Areas of Consensus

The work of the Advisory Team on Christian Education is highly valued and should continue through the collaboration and leadership of EOCM, VE and AFP.

The development of a unified comprehensive vision for Christian Education for the ELCA is timely and appropriate. This visioning process will include the work of the Task Force on Education which is developing a social statement.

The advocacy role of the churchwide organization on Christian Education should be strengthened.

An important continuing role of the churchwide organization is the facilitation and development of networks around Christian Education.

Continuing the churchwide partnership with the Lutheran Association of Christian Educators (LACE) is important.

The future churchwide organization’s role in Christian Education will primarily locate resource development and distribution with Augsburg Fortress in partnership with EOCM and other churchwide units.

Christian Education is an essential dimension of discipleship formation and transformation.

Collaboration in Christian Education endeavors in settings like LACE, the Faith Formation and Lifelong Learning Resource Management Team (RMT), and ELCA Resource Centers is a best practice.

let us begin..

Ruth suggested I place a question on the blog to encourage your response and to begin a conversation in this venue. So, here it is.

As you think about your congregation, your ministry, and the ELCA, do you find a focus on "discipleship" (verses "membership") helpful to the task of life long Christian education?

Let's hear from you...
